I was, at one point, told on a regular basis that my dragons looked an awful lot like dinosaurs. This pissed me off, because though I liked dinousaurs, they just weren't the same as the fire-breathing baddies I was attempting to create.
A long while back, I saw a special on Discovery Channel that treated dragons as factual and put them in the same time period as dinosaurs. I hadn't liked it too terribly much, but I guess it influenced me more than I thought- this image is a direct result of that special.
I tried to keep the design somewhat like that of actual therapods, including the slight neck bulge that helps suppor the large jaw muscles and the suggestions of the hollows that can be seen on preserved skulls. I'm actually rather happy with how this fellow turned out; he looks awfully spiffy. ^^
I think I saw that special. And the dragons back in prehistoric times were more wyvrens. This is wonderful, though. I really like those horns.

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
Hello there! This news article is the result of a thumb share thread I posted few days ago on the dA forum along with pictures from my favorites. I hope you enjoy them.
